Home and Away's John Palmer struggles after being replaced

Home and Away spoilers follow for UK viewers.

Home and Away's John Palmer will struggle with his resignation next week, as his replacement at the Surf Club fails to live up to his expectations.

John has resigned from the club after upsetting the son of a major sponsor during a teaching session, which put the sponsorship in jeopardy, marking a big change in his life.

In scenes that will air on Channel 5 in the UK next week, John kicks back on the beach in leisurely fashion, seemingly loving life after leaving his position as Surf Club Manager.

However, Alf Stewart is unwilling to accept John's resignation, while Dana Matheson is disappointed to find out that the Bronze Medallion courses are on hold indefinitely. Even Marilyn Chambers tries to talk sense into John, but gets nowhere.

Dana later puts together a solution after hearing about Henderson's son Banjo's complaint, with Alf filling her in on the Henderson sponsorship.

Dana decides to call Banjo herself and ask him to withdraw the complaint, but will she be able to have any influence over John's future?

Dana soon puts her plan into action, inviting Banjo to a meeting at the Diner. Banjo admits that he complained to his father about John, but Dana quickly realises that Banjo thinks he's on a date with her.

Feeling bad about the situation, Dana sets the record straight, telling him that she invited him out to talk about John, and she wants to know whether he'd consider withdrawing his complaint.

While Banjo's ego is bruised, Dana does eventually get through to him. Banjo reveals that he has already asked his dad to withdraw the complaint after John apologised, but his father won't do it.

Meanwhile, Mali Hudson has been run off his feet all day trying to cover for John's absence at the Juice Bar. When he offers his services again the following day, Alf turns him away.

Dana then feeds Alf the details she's learned about Banjo and the Hendersons, leaving the Surf Club President stuck in a tight spot.

Irene Roberts points out the obvious to Alf: he has way too much on his plate. Alf decides to be honest with Irene, telling her that he will need to replace John and he will advertise the position.

With John's departure having caused Alf to be inundated with extra work, and with the Juice Bar closed as a result, Roo Stewart offers a solution: she'll fill the position for the time being, until John decides to return to his job.

Alf is grateful to have her help and puts her straight to work, but John is upset when he finds out that he's been replaced by someone who's unqualified for his old role.

However, despite his frustrations with the Surf Club Committee, John guides Roo to a binder that reveals all the Surf Club's secrets.

Will John ever go back to the Surf Club?
