It’s been a while since we saw a Civic Type R, given that the previous generation version ceased production back in 2010. But Honda has just revealed a new Civic Type R Concept at the Geneva Motor Show, and Ah Bengs all across the land can rejoice again.

Based on the European market Honda Civic hatchback (which is built in England and completely different to the sedan versions we get locally), the new Civic Type R is dubbed as a ‘racing car for the road’ (a term that our Traffic Police might not take kindly to). The car is scheduled to enter production in 2015, although its availability in Singapore is yet to be confirmed.

The car is still officially a concept, so drivetrain details have not been revealed. But just look at it, all bright red and flashy. There are wings and spoilers all over the place, ostensibly for ‘aerodynamic’ reasons, but there is no doubt that if it stays like that for production, the new Civic Type R will be a guaranteed hit for extroverted boy racers, where the size of the spoiler is proportionately equal to the size of their egos.
