Hong Kong screen goddess Li Ching found dead at home

1 Mar – Hong Kong's '60s screen siren Li Ching has recently passed away.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress known for movies like "The Mermaid", "Susanna", and "The Merry Wife", was found dead at home following a call from the security of a Quarry Bay residence about a foul stench coming from one of the units.

She was found dead on her bed by authorities, after which they confirmed that it was Li.

Initial reports stated that there was no suspicious cause of death, and that Li died of natural causes.

Born Li Guoying in Shanghai, Li was raised in Hong Kong and went to become a successful actress during her time. After more than 50 films, most of them with Shaw Brothers, Li retired showbiz in 1983.

Although she made a fortune from her acting career, Li ended up renting at the said residence after suffering from many losses from her film investments and alleged gambling problems.

She was 69.
