"Honor Thy Father" wins big at Gawad Tanglaw

The movie wins six awards including the coveted Best Picture

16 Feb - Erik Matti's "Honor Thy Father" became the biggest winner at this year's Gawad Tanglaw, with six awards in total.

According to InterAksyon, the movie, which tells the story about a Ponzi scheme gone wrong, won Best Director for Erik Matti, Best Actor for John Lloyd Cruz, Best Supporting Actress for Meryll Soriano, Best Screenplay, and Best Musical Score.

It also won Best Picture, the title that was snubbed from them at the Metro Manila Film Festival previously, after the organiser claimed that the movie failed to reveal its participation in the Cinema One Originals Film Festival.

Meanwhile, veteran actress Tessie Tomas won Best Actress for her role in "Old Skool" while Pilar Pilapil shares the Best Supporting Actress award with Soriano through her performance in "Etiquettes for Mistresses".

Dr. Romeo Flaviano L. Lirio Para sa Sining at Kultura: Eva Darren Natatanging Gawad Tanglaw Sa Sining Ng Pelikula: Joonee Gamboa Jury Prize: "Imbisibol"

The Gawad Tagapuring mga Akademik ng Aninong Gumagalaw (Gawad TANGLAW) is an award given by a group of critics, scholars, historians, and humanities professors to movie artists and filmmakers for excellence in film.

The award ceremony's date and venue will be announced soon.
