The Horror of Dolores Roach, a modern dark comedy inspired by Sweeney Todd, has released its first trailer from Prime Video.

Based on a Spotify podcast series, the show will follow a woman named Dolores who is released from prison after 16 years, returning to the now-gentrified Washington Heights.

She struggles to get a job and get her life back on track, until her friend Luis convinces her to start a masseuse business in the basement of his empanada shop.

Her stability is threatened when a man comes in and harasses the duo about running an illegal business, before he sits down for a massage. This is the moment events take a turn as his hands start to wander and in a brief moment of anger, Dolores kills him.

She's understandably terrified by what she's done and panics about how she's going to dispose of the body without getting caught, and that's where Luis comes in with his Sweeney Todd-esque plan. Use his flesh as filling for his empanadas.

Although Dolores swears she will never kill anyone again, she soon sets down the path of being a serial killer. But how long can the duo keep going until they are found out? There's eight episodes of the series, so place your bets on when things hit the fan now.
