House of the Dragon star lands next movie role

House of the Dragon star Jefferson Hall has been confirmed for a new movie role.

The actor, who plays twins Jason Lannister and Tyland Lannister in the HBO prequel and has also had roles in Oppenheimer and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, has just wrapped on the thriller Three (via Variety).

The film follows an Emirati family in an unspecified Middle-Eastern country. A woman named Maryam starts to believe that her son Ahmed is possessed after he starts showing signs of strange behaviour.

As a solution, she calls in an infamous exorcist, medical professionals and a Western doctor. The film is described as "a rare case of a drama in which a Brit becomes enmeshed with the core of an Emirati family".

The film also stars Faten Ahmed, Noura Alabed, Mari Al Halyan, Mohannad Bin Huthail, and Saud Alzarooni, while Nayla Al Khaja (famous for Netflix horror shorts Animal and The Shadow) has directed. It was shot in Thailand and independently produced, and an outlet for release has not been announced yet.

A lot of Hollywood projects are either not going forward at all or have had to paused production due to the Writers Guild of America strike. House of the Dragon's second season is not one of these projects, as the novel's creator George R R Martin revealed that the scripts were all done and dusted before the strike began.

"Every episode has gone through four or five drafts and numerous rounds of revisions, to address HBO notes, my notes, budget concerns, etc. There will be no further revisions," Martin explained.

Another spin-off, titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, was in pre-production but that's had to be put on pause.

House of the Dragon airs on HBO in the US and on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK. Season 2 has been confirmed. Game of Thrones seasons 1-8 are available on DVD and Blu-ray.
