Work has begun to stabilise a house partially destroyed in Jersey in a suspected explosion.

Four people, including two children, were taken to hospital after neighbours heard an "enormous bang" at a property in the Mont Pinel area of St Saviour at about 23:00 BST last Wednesday.

Two adults who suffered injuries during the incident, and were the parents of the children, remained in hospital, emergency services said.

Jersey Fire and Rescue Service said structural supports were expected to be installed by the end of the week, allowing investigations to begin.

Over the weekend, displaced residents from a number of neighbouring properties were escorted back to their homes to collect personal belongings before having to leave again.
