Human Remains Found in 'Quiet' Neighborhood Could Be Tied to Man Missing Since 2021
"An area resident located the remains in a brook adjacent to their property," officals in Massachusetts said this week
Authorities in Massachusetts found human remains over a two-day span this week in a "quiet" wooded neighborhood that reportedly could be those of a man missing since 2021.
The Easton Police Department said in a Facebook post that officers received a report on May 1 of potential human remains discovered in the area of 100 Summer Street.
"An area resident located the remains in a brook adjacent to their property," police added. "Easton Detectives and Massachusetts State Police Crime Services responded. The area was secured while the scene was processed by investigators."
In a statement obtained by local ABC affiliate WCVB, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office said police found the remains were "likely a human skull."

On May 2, police said in another post that a follow-up search "resulted in the location of additional skeletal remains in the same area" where remains had previously been found.

"The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s collected the remains for analysis and potential identification," authorities said. The department has said there is no danger to the public and the case remains an active and open investigation with the DA's office and the Easton Police.
Easton Police Deputy Chief Philip Adams told NBC affiliate WJAR that the locating of bones suggests that the remains were there for "some time."
Mike Frisoli, a resident, told WCVB that the the discovery is "unusual" for the "quiet neighborhood."

But the discovery is leading some to speculate that the remains could be those of 25-year-old Matthew Yeomans, who was last seen at his grandfather's house nearby on Summer Street in September 2021, according to WJAR and the Fall River Reporter.
"We really can't say at this time we don't have any information to identify until that is processed by the medical examiner," Adams said WJAR.
