Hurricane Center says 60 percent chance of cyclone near Cape Verde

(Reuters) - A low pressure system is forecast to form between Senegal and the Cape Verde islands on Thursday and has a 60 percent chance of developing into a cyclone in the next 48 hours, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.

The system will become a tropical depression by the weekend while moving westward or west-northwestward at about 15 miles (24 km) per hour, the NHC said.
