The Idol star Da'Vine Joy Randolph has revealed that there are plans for a second season of the HBO series.

Randolph, who plays the no-nonsense manager of Lily Rose-Depp's troubled pop star Jocelyn, recently told Variety that HBO has been "very happy" with the controversial show, which airs its season finale this Sunday (July 2).

"I think that everyone's intention is to have a second season," she said. "This was never intended to be a limited series."

added: "There will be a turning [of] the table, and I think a really exciting setup of entering into season two because I think a lot of season one was to set up the world that not many people know because it's very complicated."

Randolph previously revealed that the finale will feature a big twist in Jocelyn's relationship with shady nightclub owner Tedros (Abel 'The Weeknd' Tesfaye).

"What you've seen up until now, it's about to completely turn on its head," she explained, adding that the finale would "reveal something different" about the couple's relationship.

She added: "[Sam Levinson created] Euphoria. You really think it's gonna be surface and obvious? No, there's a spin — there's a huge, huge spin.

Randolph also explained that her character sensed trouble with Tedros as soon as she met him, though she added that Destiny isn't too worried about it "because she knows what to do when the time comes".

The Idol airs on HBO, Sky Atlantic and NOW.
