SINGAPORE — Swedish furniture giant IKEA has issued a global recall for its MATVRÅ blue and red two-packs of children’s bibs as they may present a choking hazard.

In a media release on Monday (30 September), the company said that it had received reports that a button on the bibs can come off if a child pulls at it.

“The safety of customers is a top priority for IKEA, which is why we choose to recall the children’s bib MATVRÅ Blue/Red 2-pack, as a precautionary measure,” said IKEA of Sweden’s business area manager Emelie Knoester.

“The bibs with the same name, MATVRÅ, fruit/vegetables pattern, green/yellow, are safe to use due to different material and design.”

Customers who have purchased the blue and red MATVRÅ bibs are urged to return them for a full refund or a replacement product. Proof of purchase is not required.

Those with enquiries can also call the IKEA Customer Contact Centre at +65 6786 6868.
