'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' stars Nigel Farage, Josie Gibson and Nella Rose will be involved in a series-first challenge on this weekend's launch episode.

The ITV show will return for a 23rd season on Sunday (19.11.23), and producers will drop off the three campmates in the heart of the Australian outback, where they will be surrounded by red desert as far as the eye can see.

Josie, Nigel and Nella will be tasked with helping their fellow celebrities, who are 2,000 miles away in the Gold Coast.

The trio will take on several challenges in a bid to win time for their campmates, who are trying to win stars and ultimately food for the camp.

News of the brand-new trial comes after executive producer Laura Woolf admitted there would be some show-firsts this series.

She told The Sun newspaper: "The launch show is bigger and there are things we have never done before."

This year's series is also expected to see tougher Bushtucker Trials than usual with bigger portions in the eating trials, which have a new addition in the shape of the Scandinavian pickled herring surstromming.

It has been dubbed the "smelliest food in the world".

A source added to the publication: "ITV has not come to play this year. The brief to teams was bigger, better, harder and more disgusting than ever.

"Gone are the days of Helen Flanagan and Kim Woodburn shrieking through trials, and it’s been ages since our last ‘Get Me Out Of Here!’ when a celeb refuses to take part.

"They’ve all got tougher and more professional as nobody wants to be seen as a quitter.

"Bosses are determined to really push the line-up this year."

Last week, it was revealed the Walk the Plank entry challenge - which airs on launch night - will be back again, and it is expected to feature slippery poles.

'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' launches this Sunday at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
