I'm a Celebrity legend Gillian McKeith has said that going back on to the show that "terrorised" her was "worth it" for the six-figure payday.

During her first stint on the ITV reality show, Gillian clashed with her fellow campmates and put herself in the history books when she fainted during a live trial.

When asked if the money was good, Gillian told OK! Magazine: "Yes. Of course. Why does anyone do it?" She then confirmed that she was paid "six figures".

"So of course it is worth it," she added.

However, a second stint in the jungle for the show's current South Africa series didn't cure Gillian of any of her many phobias.

"I'm worse than ever," she said. "I left terrorised and it hasn't gone away. I have lots of insect phobias, but spiders are the worst. I don't want to get close up to spiders."

On what made her sign up for the show back in 2010, Gillian shared a view that other campmates have expressed in the past: She thought it was simply just a set and they'd stay somewhere else at night.

"I didn't know the show. I thought it would be an experience and put me out of my comfort zone, but I didn't understand until I got in," Gillian admitted.

"I was in complete shock. I hadn't watched one episode. I knew it was in the jungle, but I thought it would be a TV set, we'd go there, film and then we'd go to a hotel at night."

Gillian recently spoke about why she'd decided to have her hair braided for her second jungle outing.

"I was bitten by a tick back in 2010. I have quite thick hair and it burrowed under my hair at the neck, so I thought: 'I'm not doing that again'," she told Mail Online.

"The tick bite was very painful. It stuck its pincer into my neck under the hair. It was like being sliced with a razor-sharp knife."

Gillian and Shaun Ryder were the first two celebrities eliminated from I'm A Celebrity... South Africa just five days into the series.

I'm a Celebrity… South Africa airs on Mondays-Fridays at 9pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
