Former Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan has revealed that parts of the upcoming I'm a Celebrity: South Africa series were "horrendous".

Helen opened up about her experience on the show during an interview on Loose Women, explaining that she'd prefer to give birth than compete in some of the bushtucker trials.

"The trials are very, very difficult. You feel dirty, you can't have a shower," she said

"I did one trial and I did think, 'I'd rather give birth right now!' I'm naturally a wimp, I'm scared of heights, spiders, snakes."

The actress first appeared on the reality show back in 2012, finishing in seventh, before returning to compete in the all-stars season which premieres this Monday (April 24).

Helen then went on to add that she'd spent two months considering whether or not to appear on the show before accepting the job.

"I thought about it for a good two months before doing it. That show is really hard, you watch at home you think, 'oh I could do that'," she continued.

"You have to be a certain kind of person, it is hell in there, it's horrendous."

Helen isn't the only contestant to have felt apprehensive about the series either, with Fatima Whitbread revealing she'd had concerns about returning after the horrific cockroach incident on her original stint.

"It does concern me if that happens again," she told OK! Magazine, referring to the time a cockroach got lodged inside her nose during a Bushtucker Trial.
