Influencer 'fact-checks' her dating advice from her early 20s: 'If a guy likes a girl, he will take action'

Influencer Serena Kerrigan (@serenakerrigan), who dubbed herself the “Queen of Confidence” on her social media accounts after dolling out straightforward, no-nonsense dating advice, is in a relationship after five years of being single. Now with this new experience under her belt, she’s “fact-checking” herself on her own past dating advice.

“As someone has been giving advice on the internet for years — specifically dating advice — I’m going to fact-check myself based on my new relationship,” she told her followers.

Who is Serena Kerrigan?

Kerrigan is a relationship expert and entrepreneur who launched a popular card game called “Let’s F****** Date” during the pandemic. It has since grown into a business of date-themed products.

She’s long been known for giving her advice on love and dating to media outlets, but it appears Kerrigan had not been in a public relationship herself until she introduced the social media world to her current boyfriend, “Where’s This Going” podcast host Felix Levine (@felix.levine), in early July 2023.

“A tender Serena Kerrigan hard launch? Big slay,” noted @eli.rallo.

“The card game worked,” observed @perioddt.

“ofc it did,” Kerrigan replied.

From the couple’s social media accounts, it appears that the two met when Levine had Kerrigan on his podcast, where they had instant chemistry.

Fact-checking herself

Now that she’s in a relationship herself, Kerrigan described what advice she still subscribes to.

“Number one, yes, it should be that easy,” Kerrigan said, referring to past advice she has given, saying you shouldn’t “have to force it.”

“There was no anxiety,” she added. “I wasn’t screenshotting every text asking my friends what to say.”

“Agree that screenshots in the beginning signify a sinking ship,” said @vjpla in the comments.

Kerrigan also noted that she still believes in the mantra of “if he wanted to, he would.”

“If a guy likes a girl, he will take action, and he will plan a date,” Kerrigan stated firmly.

What she no longer believes

But as far as her past advice, Kerrigan admitted that she was wrong. For instance, she walked back on advice that people shouldn’t record content with their boyfriends, admitting she’s already made several TikTok with her new beau.

She also previously said that if a relationship hadn’t been “defined,” you should “definitely” be dating other people, but Kerrigan said she was “wrong” about that piece of advice, too, adding that if it’s clear how you both feel, it’s “pointless” and “not fun” to date other people.

Lastly, Kerrigan advised others not to “nitpick every little thing” about their romantic partner. She added that not everything will be a “f*** yes,” but if the “important things,” like how someone treats your family or makes you feel, are “yeses,” then that’s what matters.

Followers appreciated Kerrigan’s honesty about how her views had changed now that she is in a relationship herself.

“Lovee this reflection, so happy for you!” said @keels.in.heels.

“We love a queen who can change her mind!” added @haleyalicia_.
