Inside Keanu Reeves' 'Fun and Positive' Relationship with Longtime Girlfriend Alexandra Grant

The 'Speed' actor, who celebrates the 30th anniversary of the hit film on June 10, went public with Grant in 2019

Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant are a true Hollywood power couple.

The Speed star, 59, who celebrates the 30th anniversary of the film's release on June 10, and the visual artist, 51, first went public with their relationship in 2019, but have been linked to one another since 2011.

Reeves and Grant were linked together back in 2011 when they released their collaborative book, Ode to Happiness, which Reeves wrote and Grant illustrated.

The creative duo teamed up once again for 2016’s Shadows, another effort that saw Reeves write and Grant illustrate. The culmination of their written works resulted in their joint founding of X Artists’ Books, a publishing house they established in 2017.

In 2019, things went from platonic to romantic when Reeves and Grant appeared holding hands on the red carpet at the LACMA Art + Film Gala presented by Gucci in Los Angeles, confirming that they are an item.

Although this was the first time the two shared their relationship with fans, actress Jennifer Tilly spoke to Page Six about the couple in 2020 and revealed that they had already been together for quite some time prior to that red carpet appearance.

“I remember a couple of years ago, about a year and a half ago, [Grant] said, ‘Keanu Reeves is my boyfriend,’ and I’m like, ‘Wait. What? What? What?' ” Tilly told the publication at the time.

“It’s really astonishing to me how in the last five months, all of a sudden, she goes to an event with him and everybody goes insane, like, ‘It’s his new girlfriend,'” Tilly shared, continuing to note how Grant “had gone to a lot of events with him [in the past]. It’s just suddenly surfaced that he’s been dating her for several years.”

During a sit-down interview with PEOPLE in March 2023, Reeves revealed how his last moment of bliss at the time was "a couple of days ago with my honey."

"We were in bed. We were connected. We were smiling and laughing and giggling. Feeling great. It was just really nice to be together," he added of the sweet moment.

Grant told PEOPLE at the Los Angeles Beverly Arts Icon Awards, which took place in September 2023, that she feels as though "the good news about falling in love as an adult is that I had built my own career by the time that my relationship had begun. I feel very confident in the relationship on the red carpet. I feel confident on it alone.”

The artist also noted at the time how her creative works have "absolutely" changed since she fell in love with Reeves, calling him her "inspiration."

"I had a studio visit a few years ago, and this very kind, very high-level person said, 'I can see that your work has gotten happier,’ ” she shared. “That's real. We're all human beings. We're animals. We're expressing from where we are. I think the work is happier.”

During that same interview, Grant gushed about how she and Reeves are "both, at the heart, readers and researchers. We both care about people and we care about characters."

In March, a source told PEOPLE that being with Grant is the "most fun and positive relationship" Reeves has been a part of.

"She is adorable, sweet, caring and funny. She has her own life and career but is also very supportive of Keanu's," the source further noted of their relationship. "When he films on location, she travels with him. When he films locally, she often visits the set."

Despite revealing news of their relationship, Reeves and Grant have largely opted to keep their relationship low-key. In April, a source told PEOPLE, "They're often invited to events but only attend ones that truly matter to them."

The source further noted how "they're both homebodies." "They'd much rather entertain at home. They often have friends over for dinner. It's always the best," said the source.

Despite that, the couple were spotted at the MOCA Gala 2024 on April 13 at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, and then again on May 4 at the 19th Annual Hammer Museum Gala in The Garden, both in Los Angeles.

Most recently, Reeves and Grant were spotted hand-in-hand while exiting Los Angeles hot spot Giorgio Baldi after a date night on Saturday, May 25.
