REUTERS - Nearly 1.6 million homes and businesses lost power in Florida as Hurricane Irma pummeled the southern part of the state, Florida Power & Light said on Sunday. FPL, the state's biggest power company, is a unit of NextEra Energy Inc . Separately, Keys Energy Services, which serves about 29,000 customers in the Florida Keys, said almost all of its customers had outages. Irma crossed over the Florida Keys Sunday morning and was headed for the state's southwest coast with maximum sustained winds of 130 miles (215 km) per hour, making it a dangerous Category 4 storm, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center.
