Wild boars reportedly killed three Isis fighters on Iraqi farmland controlled by the Islamic State on Sunday.

The men had been trying to get the boars off their land when they went on a ‘rampage’, according to Iraqi News, which quoted a local source.

The attack took place in the al-Rashad region of Iraq near Kirkuk, with the source adding that “Daesh (Islamic State) militants took revenge at the pigs that attacked the farmland”.

What form that revenge took was not made clear.

Islamic State militants have held the area since 2014, when locals were forced to flee their homes or face execution. Thousands fled to refugee camps.

The Iraqi government is under increasing pressure to get rid of the Isis stronghold, but it will not have the resources to do so until it retakes Mosul, the Islamic State’s biggest stronghold in the country.

An army of feral hogs could be a good resource-lite way to do it though.
