It’s official! Donita Rose and Felson Palad are engaged
Donita Rose is now engaged to non-showbiz boyfriend Felson Palad, Jr.
The actress turned corporate chef made it official on Instagram on Monday (May 30). Pictured with an engagement ring in tow and her beloved by her side, Rose simply said “ “[I] Am now officially engaged! 😍.”
When asked for a comment on their engagement, Palad told Yahoo Philippines that “this engagement is all in God’s hands. We both pray He will bless our soon marriage.”
Palad, a Gospel singer and Christian leader, was not far behind, as he too shared the good news on his Instagram account, saying that “the wedding was perfect.” The wedding in question was actually a separate event that the couple attended.
Celebrities, from journalist Pinky Webb to singer-songwriter Janno Gibbs, and fans congratulated the two almost immediately once the news broke. Singers Jaya and Vina Morales among others wished the both of them well, with Jaya saying that she is “so happy for [both Rose and Palad] and thank you for letting us know agad agad (right away) [...] That was such an honor for Gary [Gotidoc, Jaya’s husband] & I. God bless [on] your new journey.”
Morales and fellow actress Ruffa Gutierrez even teased that they knew about the engagement ahead of the post, with the former hinting that she “kept [her] mouth shut.”
Before readying to tie the knot, Rose first revealed that he was dating Palad this April, after first meeting him in January. This was Rose’s first public relationship after divorcing Eric Villarama in 2016.
Their shared Christian faith, according to Rose, was a factor in their relationship, telling Bandera how much she thanked God for Palad (the latter even admitted to having had a crush on Rose since her days as a Singapore-based VJ for MTV Asia).
“Lord, ganyan ang gusto ko. Sobrang happy ako na sinagot ni Lord lahat ng requests ko sa kanya sa pamamagitan ni FPJ (Lord, this is what I want. I am so happy that the Lord answered all of my prayers through FPJ,” Rose said.
