ITV has responded to claims that Laura Whitmore and Oti Mabuse's weekend shows have been cancelled.

The two stars both host respective Breakfast Shows, with Dancing on Ice judge Oti fronting hers on Saturdays and former Love Island presenter Laura airing hers on Sundays.

However, according to The Sun, ITV has decided to scrap the two series, with three new shows instead planned for their slots.

Responding to the claims, an ITV spokesperson said: "Since commissioning the weekend morning breakfast programmes, we have used these shows as an opportunity to showcase both established and up and coming presenters."

Digital Spy understands that ITV was impressed with Laura and Oti's hosting skills and personalities and will continue working with them, but it wanted to keep the weekend slots fresh.

The Sun further reports that Loose Women star Katie Piper will return with her Breakfast Show, following on from its second season last year.

In other news, Laura recently accomplished a huge personal achievement as she completed a four-day Arctic trek for Comic Relief, undertaking the challenge alongside Geordie Shore's Vicky Pattison, Sara Davies and Alex Scott.

Oti, meanwhile, recently welcomed a baby with her husband Marius Iepure, revealing the happy news on Christmas Day last year.

"Merry Christmas. Wishing you all a wonderful festive season... and special memories with loved ones," she said at the time.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star later opened up about being diagnosed with sepsis shortly after her daughter arrived prematurely.

"It's a weird feeling because things don’t always go to plan, especially when you have a little premature baby. You give birth, you hug and then the baby gets taken away," she said on the Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast.

Laura Whitmore and Oti Mabuse's Breakfast Shows both air on ITV.
