Jack Antonoff Reflects on His ‘Beautiful’ Wedding to Margaret Qualley and His ‘Biggest Takeaway’ from Their Love

The Grammy winner opened up about his August wedding during an appearance on the 'Late Night Show with Seth Meyers' Thursday

Jack Antonoff didn't anticipate he'd be as swept away on his wedding day.

The Grammy winning music producer and performer, 39, sat down appeared on Thursday's Late Night with Seth Meyers where he opened up about what surprised him when he and actress Margaret Qualley, 29, tied the knot in August.

Admitting he initially thought the wedding was just for "everyone else" and that he wouldn't be nervous having the attention on him due to his experience in the spotlight, Antonoff told Meyers, "I was wrong."

“Someone told me that when you die and when you get married is the only time everyone you love is in a room," Antonoff revealed. “And I was like, ‘Oh that is just a thing someone says and I perform for a living so I don’t mind if the attention is on me.' And then as soon as it started, my whole body became wet."

He went on to say that the day was "really beautiful," adding, "I’m looking for jokes, but it was just really beautiful.”

“I’m really glad, that is the perfect way for it to be,” Meyers, 49, echoed.

But it wasn't just the wedding that thwarted Antonoff's expectations. His relationship with Qualley opened his eyes about relationships, too, calling the "crazy emotional twist" of learning about love "my biggest takeaway."

"We all have this armor that we wear. Like, ‘Oh I’m bad at relationship’ or ‘I’m this’ or ‘I’m that.’ And then, if you come to a point in your life where that just wasn’t true, you have to do so much unpacking of that," the songwriter said.

“It was just, yeah, it was just 'not time' or whatever,” Antonoff continued. “That’s the big thing I’m focused on. For all those years I had all this mythology and I…”

“...just haven’t met the right person,” Meyers said, finishing Antonoff’s sentence.
