Jack Black's Tenacious D Releases Full Cover of Britney Spears' Hit 'Baby One More Time' for “Kung Fu Panda 4”

"Ask and you shall receive," wrote the comedic rock duo, which also features Kyle Gass, on social media after teasing a snippet of the cover last week

Did anyone have Jack Black releasing a Britney Spears cover on their 2024 bingo card?

Black and Kyle Gass' comedic rock duo Tenacious D released a cover of Spears' debut hit "...Baby One More Time" as part of the Kung Fu Panda 4 soundtrack on Friday after teasing their rendition on social media last week.

"Ask and you shall receive…" wrote Tenacious D on social media alongside a link to stream the cover, which puts a guitar-heavy rock spin on the chart-topping 1998 pop track.

Last week, Black, 54, and Gass, 63, teased a snippet of their "...Baby One More Time" rendition in a social media video of the duo rocking out. At the end of the clip, the actor-comedian-musician raised his fist to reveal the word "BABY" written across his fingers.

"Tenacious B! 🐼," read the caption of the video on Black's TikTok and Instagram accounts, while the band shared the clip to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, "STILL BELIEVE 🐼💥🐯."

Following the teaser, Black told reporters at the Los Angeles premiere of Kung Fu Panda 4 — which sees him reprise his role as Po — about the origin of Tenacious D's Spears cover.

“Yeah. So, people don't know ... I don't even know if I'm allowed to say. I'm just going to give you the scoop, but the director, Mike, said, ‘Hey. We'd love to have a Tenacious D song …,’ said Black. “That's Mike right there ... ‘at the end credits. Will you do a song?’ ”

“I was like, ‘Can we do Britney Spears?’ And he was like, ‘Yes,’” he added. “And he said that he wanted '...Baby One More Time' because it's kind of in the vein of Kung fu.”

Black continued that he and Gass “cranked out a Tenacious D version of, and it's going to be at the end credits.”

While Tenacious D has an expansive discography of its own, the duo has also lent its signature style to covers of songs by Chris IsaakTaylor Swift and more in the past.

Black delivered an impromptu cover of Swift's Grammy-winning Midnights track "Anti-Hero" during The Give Back-ular Spectacular! event in Los Angeles back in October 2023, held to support SAG-AFTRA members during the Hollywood strike.

He stripped down to just boxers while performing the song and received cheers from the audience, according to a fan-posted video from the event. The Swift cover arrived after Black released "Peaches," a successful track from The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
