He royally messed up.

Jack Whitehall spectacularly failed to impress King Charles III with his comedy chops.

The comic-cum-actor recalled a disastrous Kensington Palace gig while on the The Late Late Show with James Corden this week, joking that he'd since been "NFI'd" (Not F**king Invited) to the royal coronation next month.

"It was his Christmas party for all of his staff, he booked me to be the entertainment," Whitehall began.

"I went out and they were sat, him and Camilla [Queen Consort] in the front row in thrones - like literally in thrones.

"No microphone so I was just there. I'm literally the court jester for half an hour," he continued.

"I did a load of jokes about Kate Middleton because she’d been at my school and I was referring to her as 'the one that got away' which he didn't like at all. I literally bombed so hard."

Whitehall and Middleton both attended a private school in Wiltshire known as Marlborough College.

After wrapping up his routine, the star then had to meet and bow before Charles, who casually told him that he'd be seeking a magician for the next festive gathering.

"I got thrown under the bus by the King of England."

Meanwhile, it's been confirmed that the likes of Katy Perry, Lionel Ritchie, Andrea Bocelli, Freya Ridings, Sir Bryn Terfel and Take That are all performing at the coronation concert held at Windsor Castle on 7 May.

This event will be aired live on BBC One and available to stream on iPlayer — either live or on-demand. It will also be played on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds.
