James Maddison has hinted at a return to training in a major boost for Tottenham.
The England international proved so impressive in Ange Postecoglou’s new-look Spurs side until an ankle injury suffered against Chelsea in November curtailed his progress.
Postecoglou, however, last week confirmed there was a chance the 27-year-old could feature when Spurs welcome Manchester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup next week.
“We’ll see [if he can face City],” said the Spurs boss before the 2-2 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford.
“It depends when he starts training. If he starts training early next week, potentially, but then again you have to see how they train with the first team, how they feel.
“I think we’ve got three games in that week after the Man City game so I’d hazard to say he should be…
"Him and Manor Solomon are the next two that should be fairly close after that, provided there’s no setbacks."
On Friday, Maddison – who has scored three goals while registering a further five assists since joining from Leicester – posted an update on Instagram in which he took a photo of his boots accompanied by a number of love heart emojis.
Spurs may also have Dejan Kulusevski available after the Sweden international missed the draw with United through illness.
