In a screenshot of a text exchange with his mother Kathleen posted to his Instagram Story on Monday, the Jury Duty star, 50, shared a sweet moment the two had via text after Sunday's Golden Globes.

At the 2024 awards ceremony, Marsden was nominated for best supporting actor for his performance in the Amazon Freevee mockumentary. He ultimately lost to Matthew Macfayden for his role in HBO's Succession, but that didn't make Kathleen any less proud of her son.

"My favorite moment of tonight was when they had your picture up with the other five nominees," she gushed in the text message screenshot Marsden posted. "Just like I've seen all my life of different nominee pics all together like that."

"And I [am] saying to myself — my son is one of the 6 chosen and there he is up on the tv screen next to the other nominees. MY son did that. I can't quit smiling," she continued.

Marsden returned her sentiments with a simple caption that read, "My mom, I love you," and a red heart emoji.

Marsden played a heightened version of himself on Jury Duty, which followed a cast of actors who played the quirky roles of American citizens called to serve on a jury — as well as one non-actor, Richard Gladden, who thought the whole experience was real.

Marsden previously told PEOPLE that he and Gladden have stayed friends since the unsuspecting comedy subject learned that everyone but him was a paid actor on the series.

"It was really important to me, I was like, 'I can't end this and then go, 'Hey bud, that was fun, see ya,'" Marsden said. "If we're really celebrating the guy, then we got to stay pals. And he's such a pure-hearted human being — I'd want to be friends with him anyway."

Gladden opened up about his experience on the whirlwind series and how happy he was to discover Marsden's on screen persona was far from his true self.

"I was loving James one minute and then I was hating him the next, but then he'd bring himself back," he recalled. "So during that whole process it was just a rollercoaster, the best way I can describe it."

"But once I found out it was fake, I was just so relieved ... to know that he was not that guy," he added, before sharing how he would like to remain close to the cast.
