Jamie Oliver 'signs lucrative deal with Netflix' after two decades on Channel 4
Jamie Oliver has reportedly joined the ranks of stars moving to Netflix after signing a lucrative deal with the streaming giant.
The 49-year-old celebrity chef ended his long-standing, multi-million-pound exclusive contract with Channel 4 in 2022, after two decades of collaboration.
According to The Sun, Oliver has been exploring various new ventures, with his first Netflix project being an upcoming season of their popular series, Chef's Table.
Premiering in 2015, the series offers viewers an intimate look into the lives and kitchens of renowned chefs, showcasing their skills and culinary passions.
A source said: “Signing for a huge streamer has now become a right of passage for the biggest stars on TV. It is seen as the next higher step in their career beyond working for the BBC, ITV or Channel 4.
“It's a situation which might have been unthinkable a few years ago, but it reflects a firm shift towards Netflix and Prime Video fast becoming the go-to for entertainment and factual programming.
“The likes of Jamie Oliver are the ultimate choice for these international streamers, because they bring along a ready-made fanbase in countries dotted around the globe.”
However, the chef isn't entirely finished with Channel 4, as he reportedly has several projects lined up with the station. However, he will be focusing more on new ventures with Netflix in the future.

Oliver isn’t the only well-known TV name to sign up to projects on the streaming giant.
Back in March it was revealed that Holly Willoughby would front a Netflix show, Bear Hunt, in which adventurer Bear Grylls hunts down celebrities in the jungle.
In the action-packed reality competition, which is to be released next year, British celebrities will be dropped into the Central American jungle and become prey to survival expert Grylls.
Grylls, 50, will put the famous faces through their paces, and competitors who fail to impress him will face the Bear Hunt – a game of cat and mouse in which they will be eliminated if they are captured.
