Japan broadcaster NHK is testing 8K resolution for Wimbledon

In collaboration with the All England Lawn Tennis Club, Japan's public broadcaster NHK is testing its "Super Hi-Vision" 8K resolution system.

During the Wimbledon tournament, two matches a day are to be covered by NHK's "Super Hi-Vision" system, 16 times the resolution of HD, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This will also include a trial of Sony's F65 4K camera, a model known mostly for its use in feature films. The results of the tests are only available to broadcasters in the Broadcast Center tent at Wimbledon.

The trial is part of NHK and the Japanese government's move to bring "Super Hi-Vision" to Japan, and have it ready for use country-wide for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
