The search for missing British teenager Jay Slater has now entered its fourth day.

The 19-year-old from from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, was last heard from on Monday morning as he told a friend he planned to walk back to his accommodation in Tenerife after missing a bus, a journey expected to take around 11 hours on foot.

Spanish police and Slater’s family, who flew to Tenerife after his disappearance, are now searching for the teenager, who was on the island on holiday.

Here, Yahoo News UK breaks down the timeline of Jay Slater’s disappearance.

Afternoon: Slater attends the NRG Tenerife Weekender festival with friends.

Evening: Slater leaves the rave with a group he met that day. He tells a friend, Lucy, that he will be staying with them at their apartment but does not reveal the location.

8.35pm: Slater is seen in a Snapchat clip – his last one before his disappearance. The clip shows him wearing a grey t-shirt with a green stripe.

7.30am: Slater posts a Snapchat picture showing his hand holding a cigarette at the property where he travelled to with two men.

8.15am: Slater reportedly calls Lucy in a panic, telling her his phone battery was only on 1% and he was lost and in need of water. Slater tells Lucy he has missed his bus back to his accommodation and is trying to walk back using the maps app on his phone.

8.50am: Slater’s phone cuts off, with his last location showing as the Rural de Teno park – a mountainous area popular with hikers.

9.04am: Slater is officially reported missing to Tenerife police. Lucy contacts the British Embassy.

2.30am: Slater’s mother, Debbie Duncan, and stepfather, Andy Watson, are awoken by police at their home in Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire. Duncan is told she needs to fly to Tenerife as her son has been reported missing. Describing the moment police knocked on their door, Watson says: “When the police said: ‘The best thing you can do is get yourself out there’ we knew it was bad.”

11.35am: Duncan arrives in Tenerife with Slater’s brother, Zak, after catching the first flight out of Manchester Airport. Duncan claims she is sent a Snapchat message from someone telling her to "say goodbye to your boy" shortly after she lands.

1.45pm: Specialist mountain rescue teams and helicopters are deployed in the search.

2.30pm: Duncan posts an appeal on Facebook, asking for anyone with information to come forward.

Evening: A spokesperson for the Civil Guard confirms that mountain rescue teams and helicopters have been deployed in the search.

12.30pm: The Civil Guard temporarily shift search efforts to the tourist areas of Los Cristianos and Playa de Las Americas, on the south of the island, after reports of a sighting – which turns out to be a “false lead”.

Afternoon: Search for Slater is resumed in the mountains.

Evening: Police in Tenerife search Slater’s hotel room in Los Cristianos, where he had been staying with friends Brad and Lucy Law. His mother tells ITN that the ordeal is “an absolute living nightmare”. She adds: “I just want my baby back. Please, just anybody who can help just look for him.”

5am: Slater’s friend, Lucy Mae, launches a GoFundMe page for the search.

9am: Accrington and Rossendale College, where Slater was completing his apprenticeship, says it is “deeply concerned” about Slater‘s disappearance. They add in a statement: “The safety and wellbeing of our students are of upmost important to us, and our thoughts at this worrying time are with Jay’s family and friends.”

Morning: The search for Slater enters its fourth day, with no leads yet reported.
