Jay Slater's best friend Lucy Law has shared a new photo of the missing Brit nearly three weeks after he vanished in Tenerife.

On Friday she made her first entry on social media in a while, posting a picture of herself with the bricklayer to Instagram, captioned with a crying face and blue heart emoji.

Ms Law was the last person 19-year-old Mr Slater called after he went missing following a party on June 17 on the Spanish island.

They had been at a rave in Playa de las Americas together that night but they parted ways as Mr Slater went to a cottage with two older men in the remote Masca village.

The next morning he called her to say that he had missed his bus back and that he was attempting to walk the 11 hour journey.

He said that he was lost, without water and that his phone battery was on 1 per cent.

That phone call, at around 8am on June 18, was the last time Mr Slater was heard from.

After a massive search of the area, the Civil Guard has now called off its effort.

Earlier in the week, an east London man who rented the Airbnb where Mr Slater stayed said that he “came to the house alive and he left the house alive”.

Ayub Qassim said: “I let the geezer stay at mine because he had nowhere else to go. His friends had all left him. I know Jay through friends.

“I’m not going to bring someone back to mine if I don’t know them. I’m doing the geezer a favour and now my face is all over the news. It’s a bit mental. I haven’t even done anything.”

Investigators have allowed him and another unnamed friend with whom he was travelling to return home to the UK.

Members of the Slater family have remained in Tenerife to continue their search.
