Brent is an obvious choice as he has years of design experience under his belt as founder of his own firm, and is a certified home makeover TV star.

The dad of two stars alongside his husband of 10 years and fellow designer Nate Berkus on HGTV’s Nate & Jeremiah by Design and The Nate and Jeremiah Home Project. The pair also competed on HGTV's reality competition show Rock the Block.

Brent has also appeared as the interior design expert on Netflix’s Say I Do, in which he helped bring couples’ dream weddings to life. The series was developed by the same creators as Queer Eye.

His latest project is a new book, The Space That Keeps You, which was released on Feb. 20. The tome explores topics like the meaning of a home and includes intimate conversations about the feelings and memories that make up an individual's space.

Brent got his start as fashion stylist Rachel Zoe's assistant and appeared on The Rachel Zoe Project. He married Berkus at the New York Public Library in May 2014. The couple, who've moved from New York to Los Angeles and back during their relationship, currently reside in a stylish Manhattan penthouse with their two children, Poppy, 8 and Oskar, 5.

In November, Berk announced that season 8 would be his last ion Queer Eye in a heartfelt Instagram post.

“The love that I have received from you all over the last 6 years has been absolutely surreal,” he wrote alongside a series of photos. “You have tuned in and been dedicated fans and together we were able to share the healing powers of design. I learned from you all about kindness, love and acceptance and that has changed my life for the better.”

He continued: “It’s with a heavy heart that I announce that season 8 will be my final season on Queer Eye. It’s not been an easy decision to be at peace with, but a necessary one. Although my journey with Queer Eye is over, my journey with you is not. You will be seeing more of me very soon.”

Despite his decision to leave the show, Berk has no hard feelings toward his costars, according to a source close to the situation

“Bobby’s departure is unrelated to relationships with his castmates. The parting was amicable,” the source exclusively told PEOPLE at the time.

The source confirmed that Berk “has a handful of projects in development and is also busy with his own company.”

Berk cleared up rumors swirling about his relationship with his co-stars himself in a Vanity Fair interview earlier this month.

During the conversation, he opened up about an alleged feud with his cast mate Tan France.

“I hope this interview will help extinguish some of the speculation,” Berk said. “I want people to know that Tan and I — we will be fine.” While he did shed light on a "situation," he said the two have moved past the issue.

“Tan and I had a moment. There was a situation, and that’s between Tan and I, and it has nothing to do with the show. It was something personal that had been brewing — and nothing romantic, just to clarify that.”

“Should I have unfollowed Tan? No,” Berk continued. “Maybe I should have just muted him. But that day, I was angry, and that’s the end of it. We became like siblings — and siblings are always going to fight.”

Of his choice to not sign on for additional seasons like his castmates, he said, “There were definitely emotions. But each one of us had our reasons why we did what we did,” he said. “I can’t be mad — for a second I was.”
