Jeremy Renner addresses Hawkeye return after snowplough accident

Jeremy Renner has addressed his potential return as Hawkeye following his accident with a snowplough last year.

The star, who plays Clint Barton in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, suffered severe injuries including major trauma, 30 broken bones and blood loss after being run over by the vehicle on January 1, 2023.

Following his steady recovery, the actor has begun to speak of his return to the industry, and spoke with Entertainment Tonight about his hopes for the MCU character.

“I’m always game,” he began. “I’m gonna be strong enough, that’s for sure. I’ll be ready. All those guys come to my bedside and they’ve been with me all along through this recovery, so… if they want me, they could have me. It would be something.”

The star has spoken candidly about the incident during his recovery, and last year he teased that he had been inspired to create music based on his experience, writing: “A collection of music we wrote about different milestones in my journey of recovery since Jan 1st this year.

“Love and Titanium' has been painful, deeply healing, and ultimately cathartic for me to create. I hope I get the courage to share with you all. #loveandtitanium @wafanasieff @leeannajamesmusic @bsamzmusic @jasonmater @jeffbonilla.”

Renner announced his return to work at the end of last year, confirming that he was due to begin filming for the third season of Mayor of Kingstown, sharing a post from co-star Emma Laird as he arrived on set.

“Back with my favourite guy next week @jeremyrenner,” wrote Laird in the Instagram post, with Renner adding: “It's happening” in response. Fans might have to wait a while, however, with the third season not currently having a release date.
