‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ Holds Onto Late-Night Ratings Crown With Highest 6-Week Average In Key Demo

EXCLUSIVE: Jimmy Kimmel Live is still delivering strong ratings, six weeks after late-night returned to the airwaves.

The week of November 6, Kimmel delivered a 0.15 rating among adults 18-49, which tied it for No. 1 with The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, according to Live + Same Day Nielsen data. Since the show returned October 2, it has managed to hang on to the ratings crown.

Throughout the last six weeks, Kimmel has stayed ahead as far as key demo ratings go, averaging a 0.19. That’s 12% above Fallon’s 0.17 rating and 27% above The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which averaged a 0.15.

However, Colbert was out of commission due to COVID for much of the week of October 16, so the other late night shows had a bit of a leg up in terms of original content.

Kimmel also appears to be improving in total viewers. The week of November 6, the show averaged 1.68M viewers, which is the second-largest audience of the season, according to live + same-day Nielsen data.

That’s up 8% over the week prior, marking the second consecutive week that the show grew its viewership. Year-over-year, the audience was up 32% from 1.27M.

Compared to the comparable six weeks last season, the show is up 13% in total viewers, averaging around 1.6M. That makes it the most-watched start to the season in four years.

Kimmel’s Wednesday night broadcast did particularly well. That episode — which featured Luke Grimes, Blake Shelton, and singer Jelly Roll — brought in 2.17M viewers and a 0.22 rating among the entertainment demo, besting its competition in both categories.
