Joe Lycett's Channel 4 comedy show Late Night Lycett has been renewed for a second series.

It's been confirmed that the comedian will return to host eight more episodes of the live entertainment show from his hometown of Birmingham next year, where he'll once again rope his guests into various madcap games and sketches.

The new series will follow a Late Night Lycett Christmas special, which will air later this year.

"The first series of Late Night Lycett was the most fun I've ever had making TV," Lycett said. "From Paul Chuckle destroying my local corner shop to Katherine Ryan being trapped on a floating barge, the whole thing feels like a crazed fever dream. I can't wait to go bigger and wilder in series two."

Tom Beck, Head of Live Events and Commissioning Editor for Entertainment at Channel 4, added: "Joe is a phenomenal talent and a brilliant, bonkers human being - and Late Night Lycett is the perfect reflection of his personality,

"The first series overflowed with creative joy, balanced with real heart; it was also really bloody funny. I can't wait to bring it back."

In series one, Lycett brought some of the biggest names in showbiz to Birmingham, including Joan Collins, Joanna Lumley, Richard E Grant, Alison Hammond, Jonathan Ross and Alan Carr.

He was also joined by fellow Taskmaster stars Daisy May Cooper and Katherine Ryan, while Gemma Collins, Judi Love and Joel Dommett appeared too.

Following the show's announcement earlier this year, Lycett said: "I'm absolutely psyched and naturally very nervous about hosting a weekly live show from Birmingham, but it has been a dream of mine for many years and I look forward to some (controlled) late-night chaos."

Late Night Lycett airs on Channel 4 and will return for series 2 in 2024.
