John Daly is a household name for many reasons.

For starters, there is his three-decades-long career as a champion pro golfer. But even non-golf fans recognize Daly, thanks to his statement-making, wild fashion choices in the otherwise buttoned-up sport. Off the course, Daly has had a stint as a country music singer, releasing a 2022 album titled Whiskey and Water. And over the years, the free-spirited golfer has made headlines for everything from allegedly gambling away about $55 million to setting up a college fund with his winnings from the 1991 PGA Championship for the daughters of a spectator struck dead by lightning at the event.

But another piece of Daly's larger-than-life personality is his role as a father. The golfer is a dad of three: He first welcomed a daughter named Shynah with his second wife, Bettye Fulford, in the early '90s. A second daughter, Sierra, was born a few years later to Daly and his third wife, Paulette Dean. In 2003, Daly's fourth wife, Sherrie Miller, gave birth to a son they named John Daly II.

Daly's golfing persona may be well-known, but what is he like as a father? "I do try to say no to the kids. I don't always succeed," Daly admitted to Golf Digest in 2005. "I spoil them because I know I can. They can have whatever they want."

Since that 2005 interview, Daly's children have all grown up. "All of my kids have just been outstanding," Daly shared in April 2022.

Here's everything to know about John Daly's three children: Shynah, Sierra and John Daly II.

Daly became a father for the first time in the early '90s when his second wife Fulford gave birth to daughter Shynah Hale Daly. The marriage was short-lived, however, and Daly filed for divorce a year later in July 1993. Fulford obtained custody of Shynah, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Despite the divorce, Daly maintained a close relationship with his eldest child. The pro golfer told Golf Digest in 2005 that he spent the summers and holidays with Shynah, who lived with Fulford in Orlando — but wished it was more. "It's not enough," Daly said at the time. "I talk to Shynah four or five times a week, sometimes three times in one day."

As Shynah grew up, she began working for her father. "She ran my shop for a lot of years," Daly said in a May 2022 interview with PGA Memes. "She wanted to move on and be a photographer."

Shynah went on to launch her own photography business, called Changing Daly Photography. "Shynah is a hell of a photographer," Daly boasted in the same interview. She has been sharing her photography work, which includes everything from individual portraits to couple shoots to family sessions, on Instagram since October 2019.

Daly shares his second daughter, Sierra Lynn Daly, with his third wife, Paulette Dean. However, Daly and Dean split when Sierra was young.

Now an adult, Sierra has lived a relatively private life. She has no public-facing social media accounts and hasn't appeared on Daly's Instagram since a February 2013 Instagram post when she was 17 years old. "My 2 Girls all grown up!" Daly captioned the photo, which also featured Sierra's older sister Shynah.

In an interview with PGA memes in May 2022, Daly shared a rare update on his younger daughter. "Sierra's down in Hot Springs, selling insurance," he said. "She's doing great."

Daly shares his only son, John Patrick Daly II, with his fourth wife, Miller. Named after his father, he is known as "Little John."

As he's grown up, John has followed in his father's footsteps, becoming a nationally ranked golfer as a teenager. In May 2020, he competed in the Dye National Junior Invitational held at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Indiana — the same course where his father famously won his first PGA Championship in 1991. John tied for second in the tournament, which featured 33 of the top high school boys in the country.

"I played great," John told the Indianapolis Star following the tournament. "It would have been cool to win, but I still have time. Just a couple bad three-putts both days, but other than that I played great."

In November 2020, John committed to play golf at the University of Arkansas, Daly's alma mater where he golfed from 1984 to 1987. "It's Official!!!!🐗🏌️‍♂️," Daly posted on X (formerly Twitter) at the time. "Proud of my son and so happy he became a #Razorback today! Today is their day!"

The father-and-son golfing duo also began competing together in the PNC Championship starting in 2016. After five top-10 finishes, Daly and John took first place in the father-and-son challenge in December 2021 — beating Tiger Woods and his son Charlie by two shots.

"It's just one of the highlights of my life," Daly said, according to Golf.com. "To be able to play in a PGA Tour event with your son and win, it's pretty daggone special."
