The wait is almost over, with British retailer John Lewis confirming a release date for their annual Christmas advert.

"Christmas begins 9 November #TraditionsGrow," read the twitter caption, hinting at the advert's possible title.

The tweet was accompanied by a eight-second teaser clip of the advert giving audiences a taste of what's to come.

"Gran... can I have this?" asks a young boy, holding up a 'Grow Your Own Perfect Christmas Tree" kit in his hand.

He then opens the kit, revealing the contents inside - a seed for the tree.

The John Lewis logo follows, with the 'H' and 'W' transforming into plant roots, in keeping with the teaser theme.

The teaser failed to give away the musical artist and song the British retailer has tapped up for this year's advert.

Previous years have included Lily Allen performing a cover of 'Somewhere Only We Know' by Keane and Tom Odell singing 'Real Love' by John Lennon.

In 2022, US artist Mike Geier covered the Blink-182 classic 'All The Small Things'. The advert told the story of a middle-aged man trying to learn how to skateboard in order to find common ground with his new foster child Ellie.

Products featured in the ad, including the skateboard, were available to purchase in store and online, with 25% of the sales sent to Action for Children and Who Cares? Scotland, the two charities the retail giant worked with.

It's thought that this year's John Lewis advert will also support a charity and feature merchandise for fans to buy.
