John Wick spin-off The Continental first look images released

Peacock has shared first-look images for the John Wick spin-off The Continental, treating fans to a glimpse of what's to come in the much-anticipated TV series.

The three-part drama has been confirmed as a prequel to the popular John Wick film franchise starring Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane and the late Lance Reddick.

The series will focus on Winston Scott and Charon, following the story of their assassin hangout hotel The Continental and how their younger selves came to be the two hoteliers they are today.

The first look teaser images show actors Colin Woodell and Ayomide Adegun respectively in character as Scott and Charon.

The Continental is set in New York in the 1970s, and both first look images show the two characters dressed in attire that was typical of the time. Woodell's Watson sports a retro-patterned cravat, whilst Adegun's Charon looks sharp in a striped notched lapel double-breasted blazer.

Woodell and Adegun will be supported by cast-members Nhung Kate, Ben Robson, Jeremy Bobb and Riverdale actress Mishel Prada in the series.

Mel Gibson will also star as Cormac. No other details of his character have been shared as yet, but another first look image teases his role and from first impressions, he appears to be a man of power.

In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, producer Basil Iwanyk shared what audiences can expect from The Continental, which will be streamed internationally on Prime Video.

"The four Wick films take place over a three-month span. John is either chasing, or being chased," he said. "There has been no time to take a breath, to allow the audience to dig deeper into the world and its denizens.

"In our show, The Continental, we finally have space to explore these characters, how they became who they are, and how The Continental became the epicentre of this world."

Iwanyk promises "new characters that are as compelling as any in the John Wick universe", plus some "crazy cool" action also atypical of the film franchise. Hardcore John Wick fans will also be excited to learn of a few Easter eggs cropping up in the TV series.

His favourite thing about The Continental though? "A vision of '70s New York that embodies the sexiness, edginess, and visceral style that the franchise is known for."

Iwanyk also teased: This show will look/sound/smell cooler than any show out there."

The Continental is scheduled to premiere on Peacock in September 2023.

John Wick: Chapter Four is in cinemas now. The previous John Wick movies are available to buy or rent on Prime Video, plus DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD.
