Jonathan Majors has lost another movie role.

The Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star, 34, will no longer portray Dennis Rodman in the former NBA player’s biopic — which is tentatively named 48 Hours in Vegas — after he was found guilty on charges of assault and harassment last month, according to CNN.

Majors’ legal representatives did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Majors was originally announced to play the Chicago Bulls star in the film over a year ago. The premise of 48 Hours in Vegas revolves around Rodman’s infamous trip to Las Vegas during the 1998 NBA finals.

It was originally set to be produced under Lionsgate, but the film studio is no longer involved, and the film has been released back to producers Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Aditya Sood, according to Deadline. Rodman is also an executive producer on the film, according to Entertainment Weekly.

In December, Majors was found guilty of misdemeanor assault in the third degree, recklessly causing physical injury and harassment in the second degree after an alleged domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari in New York in March.

Majors’ defense attorney Priya Chaudhry released a statement after the verdict, saying, "It is clear that the jury did not believe Grace Jabbari’s story of what happened in the SUV because they found that Mr. Majors did not intentionally cause any injuries to her. We are grateful for that.”

“We are disappointed, however, that despite not believing Ms. Jabbari, the jury nevertheless found that Mr. Majors was somehow reckless while she was attacking him," she continued, adding, "Mr. Majors still has faith in the process and looks forward to fully clearing his name."

Following his guilty verdict, Marvel Studios confirmed to PEOPLE that it had parted ways with Majors, who was set to star in various other upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe titles, including a fifth Avengers movie.

The Creed III actor played Kang the Conqueror in 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and was featured on the Disney+ series Loki.

Last week, Majors spoke out for the first time since the trial in an interview with Good Morning America, saying he "was absolutely shocked and afraid" upon hearing the verdict.

“How is that possible? Based off the evidence, based off the prosecution’s evidence, let alone our evidence," Majors said. He also noted that he "felt like it was time" to give his interview now, as "a lot has happened."

"It’s about responsibility and coming forward and being brave and giving my part of the story," he added.

Majors will return to court for sentencing on Feb. 6, where he could face up to a year in jail.
