The HBO Max series, starring original cast members Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristen Davis returned for a second series in June this year.

And Just Like That was officially renewed for a third series on August 22, two days before the season 2 finale had dropped.

Showrunner Michael Patrick King shared the news in a statement (via Variety): "We are thrilled to spend more time in the Sex And The City universe telling new stories about the lives of these relatable and aspirational characters played by these amazing actors."

John Corbett reprised his role as Carrie's ex-boyfriend Aidan Shaw in several episodes of season 2, with the pair rekindling their relationship.

Meanwhile, Kim Cattrall had a very brief cameo as her infamous character Samantha Jones in the season 2 finale.

Samantha, who is now based in London, rang Carrie to commemorate the sale of her friend's 'single girl' apartment, which has been the writer's home since the very first episode of Sex and the City.

"This is as far as I'm going to go," she told Today. "I don't think I'll ever say goodbye to Samantha. She's like a lot of other characters that I've done over the years.

"I get very emotionally attached and protective of my characters. She gave me so much, and I'm so appreciative of her."
