And Just Like That seasons 1 and 2 spoilers follow.

And Just Like That star Nicole Ari Parker has responded to the "strong negative fan reactions" to the show.

It's safe to say the first season of the Sex and the City sequel show received mixed reviews from long-time fans — with many of them questioning the creative choices for their beloved characters.

Fans were understandably upset that Kim Cattrall chose not to return as Samantha Jones, then there were some questionable storylines, like Miranda Hobbes leaving her family for comedian Che Diaz or killing off Carrie's husband John (aka Mr Big).

One of the new additions that fans seemed to love was Nicole Ari Parker joining the friend group as Lisa Todd Wexley — and now the actress has addressed backlash to And Just Like That.

"Well, you know, strong, negative fan reactions to me are just as important as positive ones," she told Radio Times. "It means they're watching, and I think that that is exactly what happens when people you love and that you love together break up. It upsets the whole family, and this is a Sex and the City family and they have a right to be mad."

Parker went on: "I think that they're going to tune in and learn something and not just be one dimensional in their perspective, they're going to see what it takes to be in these kinds of relationships and take something away, hopefully, that opens their heart."

The upcoming second season could prove to be as divisive as ever, since creator Michael Patrick King has made the controversial choice to bring back Carrie's ex-boyfriend Aidan Shaw for a big storyline.

One thing viewers are definitely looking forward to is Cattrall making a comeback as Samantha Jones, albeit in a cameo for the second season finale.

And Just Like That, the sequel to Sex and the City, airs on Max in the US and Sky Comedy and NOW in the UK.
