And Just Like That star Cynthia Nixon has revealed the reason why show character Che Diaz will not be returning for season three.

Nixon reprises her role as Miranda Hobbes in the Sex and the City spin-off, who is romantically involved with Diaz (played by Grey's Anatomy actor Sara Ramirez), before the couple part ways at the end of season 2.

It was reported in late February, that Ramirez would not be returning for season three, which was renewed by Max in August last year.

In a new interview with Variety, Nixon explained why she felt the character wasn't appearing in the next instalment.

"They created such an amazing character — such a controversial character, but such an amazing character," Nixon says. "I think they felt, and Michael Patrick [King, show creator] felt, that that character had run its course.

"They came in and shook everything up, and then the arc was completed."

The end of season two saw Miranda single again following her break-up with Diaz and her divorce from husband Steve Brady (played by David Eigenberg).

As for what viewers can expect from her character in season three, Nixon teases Miranda will be back in the dating game, which the actor feels is a good fit.

"I do feel like our show always works best when people are dating," she admits.
