Justin Timberlake halts concert to help fan in need: ‘Are we okay?’

The "Man of the Woods" singer brought the house lights up to check on a fan at his Austin concert.

If you’re in distress and you can’t stop the feeling, say something — Justin Timberlake might help you get to a better place.

During his performance of “Cry Me a River” at Austin’s Moody Center on Saturday night, the singer observed a fan who needed help. A TikTok of the moment shows Timberlake repeatedly pointing towards a spot in the crowd to get security’s attention.

Timberlake asks for “House lights up, house lights up,” and asks that the rest of the audience to have a little patience as the event personnel make their way to the fan. “Sorry everybody, one second, one second,” the singer says. “We need some assistance right here about five rows back. Are we okay?”

After an apparent confirmation that can’t be heard in the video, Timberlake responds, “No, no problem. Okay, we’re okay.” The crowd bursts into applause, and the singer continues with his set, which also included “SexyBack,” “Rock Your Body,” and “Mirrors.” Though it’s not clear why the fan in question needed help, it seems that they received whatever assistance they needed.

Timberlake has already performed over a dozen shows on his Forget Tomorrow World Tour following the release of his sixth solo album Everything I Thought It Was. He’s far from finished, though — the singer has over 70 concerts left in the tour, which will run until late December and span 10 countries.

Before embarking on his exhaustive tour, Timberlake reunited with the rest of NSYNC at a one-night-only show in Los Angeles in March. Timberlake, J.C. Chasez, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, and Chris Kirkpatrick performed some of the boy band’s biggest hits at the Wiltern, including “Bye Bye Bye” and the oft-memed “It’s Gonna Be Me,” as well as the new song "Paradise.” The concert marked the group’s first live performance together in over a decade, though they’d recently reunited in the studio for “Better Place” from the Trolls Band Together soundtrack.

In recent months, numerous other entertainers have also interrupted their performances to assist fans in need. Adam Sandler paused a huge comedy show in San Jose in October to ensure an audience member received medical attention, Adele instructed security guards to back off from a fan at a Las Vegas concert in August, and Monica fully jumped off the stage at a Detroit festival to defend a fan from a man who was allegedly striking her in July.
