Kate Garraway is set to make a cameo in Steven Moffatt’s new ITV drama Douglas Is Cancelled.

It’s been confirmed that the Good Morning Britain presenter will make an appearance as herself during the four-part show's first episode, in which she’ll interview lead characters Douglas (Hugh Bonneville) and Madeline (Karen Gillan) at the GMB studio (via The Mirror).

But this won’t be the first time Garraway has made a cameo as herself in a series or film, with the presenter having previously appeared in Keith Lemon’s Lemon La Vida Loca, Hollyoaks and Sharknado 5: Global Swarming.

Douglas Is Cancelled will centre on the titular character, whose life and career as a respected news anchor is turned upside down after a sexist joke he made at a wedding comes to public attention.

As the scandal heightens, Douglas is forced to question how well he knows his co-anchor Madeline.

Other cast members include Doctor Who’s Alex Kingston, Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed, The Crown's Ben Miles and The Death of Stalin's Simon Russell Beale.

The announcement of Garraway’s role in the series comes shortly after she paid an emotional tribute to her late husband Derek Draper, as she and her two children spent their first Father's Day without him.

"We started by visiting Derek's grave early – and talked about all the amazing things we loved about him, the daft things he did to make us laugh and all the things he has given us that we'll never forget," she wrote.

"I know for so many, yesterday would have been a tough day so here's to getting through and let's celebrate all the wonderful fathers & father figures & what they gift us everyday."

Douglas Is Cancelled begins at 9pm on Thursday, June 27 on ITV and ITVX.
