Kate Moss' Iconic Naked Dress is Up for Auction

Vintage fashion and antique auction house, Kerry Taylor Auctions, announces the selling of Kate Moss' "Naked" dress.

Designed by Liza Bruce, the famous slip dress became Moss' most iconic fashion moment as a young model. Only 19 years old at the time, the British model was about to make fashion history -- and had no idea.

At the time, she arrived at the London Hilton for the "Elite Model Agency’s Look of the Year" party and paparazzi's were all over her. Posing for paparazzi under harsh lighting, she had no idea she was completely exposed underneath the sheer material." In true model form, she did what she needed to for the cameras, taken slightly aback by the level of attention she was receiving.

As she arrived inside, she learned that her dress was see through, revealing her black undergarment -- and everything else. "It was the flash that made it look naked ’cause actually the fabric when I was wearing it, when I went out I didn’t think it was that see-through. But, obviously, it was," she told British Vogue. She later joked: "I mean, had I known I’d be talking about it 30 years later… good dress, good night."

The dress, which went the 90s-version of viral, doesn't seem to be convincing Gen Zers just learning of the fashion history moment. "Love that interview at the time she said that she didn’t know it was gonna be see-through until she sort of photos, how could she possibly have not known 💀💀💀," one Instagram user commented.
