Kate Moss has always understood the birthday girl style assignment.

Over the years, the supermodel has treated her birthday as a national fashion holiday (and rightly so), by wearing festive looks that solidify her style icon status. Equally iconic: she has a no-camera rule at her parties which only adds to the thrill of catching a glimpse of her ensemble.

And in honor of her 50th birthday Jan. 16, 2024, we took a look back at her most iconic bday looks which prove that no one dresses better for their own party than Moss.

Starting with her 21st birthday party in 1995 — her first with supermodel status — Moss reportedly (remember, no pictures!) wore a white slip dress John Galliano designed and gifted her for the soiree, which was hosted by then boyfriend Johnny Depp at his LA club, The Viper Room). In a 1997 interview Moss shared, “it has traveled with me everywhere over the years, it's the most perfect dress,” and revealed that her friend Sadie Frost borrowed it for her wedding to Jude Law.

Four years later, she celebrated her 25th birthday with a party thrown by Donatella Versace in Paris right after her Moss’ runway appearance, and luckily photographers were allowed inside to capture her epic look: a lace-trimmed strapless dress with a braided high ponytail. She blew up the sparklers on her diamond-shaped cake while celeb guests cheered her on.

For her 30th birthday in 2004, she paid homage to F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Beautiful and Damned, in a stunning blue sequined dress first worn by Britt Ekland to the 1974 premiere of The Man with the Golden Gun.

Her 34th birthday brought us the Pinterest look of our dreams: a star-print Chanel dress which she styled with gold star eye makeup and fluffy curls.

When she turned 40, Moss wore her most shocking look yet — the classic Playboy bunny outfit— when she was photographed by Mert and Marcus for the magazine’s 60th anniversary. She also celebrated with then husband Jamie Hince, in a LBD with a chic leopard-print coat and patent leather lace-ups.

Moss kept her birthday style streak going when she turned 45, wearing a black mini dress with black stockings with a statement belt and a black fur jacket.

And finally, for her 50th, Moss went for a sexy sheer black lace dress with a jacket draped over her shoulders and strappy sandals.

Despite all of the fanfare around her birthday, Moss admitted that she wasn't thrilled to hit the milestone number.

“I’m not turning 50,” the supermodel told U.K. newspaper The Times in an interview published in September, adding that she is in “denial” about getting older.

“No. I’m not thinking about it. I do not feel 50,” said Moss, who is mom to Lila Moss Hack, 20, through her relationship with ex-boyfriend, Dazed Media founder Jefferson Hack.

When asked if she has had any injectables such as fillers or Botox, Moss said: “No comment. Au naturel. Next [question].”
