Kathryn Dennis is sharing a positive message after she was recently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).

The former Southern Charm star, 32, reshared a quote to her Instagram Stories about the importance of being "grateful" for what you have on Wednesday, May 29 just days after her arrest in Berkeley, S.C., on May 20.

"You can literally be here today and gone tomorrow. Be grateful, be humble, be appreciative, be kind, be loving,” the post that Dennis reshared read.

The reality star was stopped by the Goose Creek Police Department just after 10 p.m. local time and charged with a DUI for transporting alcohol that had been opened, according to a police report obtained by PEOPLE.

According to the police report obtained by PEOPLE, Dennis "had glossy eyes and an odor of alcohol coming from her" when she was stopped by police after a three-car collision, and one of the responding officers told a colleague that Dennis was "possibly impaired."

As a result of the arrest, the former Bravo star is required to appear in court on June 4.

PEOPLE reached out to Dennis’ representatives for comment, but did not hear back from them at the time.

This isn’t Dennis’ first run in with authorities. In October 2023, a vehicle registered in Dennis' name was involved in an alleged hit-and-run incident in South Carolina, PEOPLE confirmed at the time.

The SUV struck a school resource officer directing traffic in front of Whitesville Elementary School, Lance Corporal Nick Pye of the South Carolina Highway Patrol told PEOPLE. He noted that the vehicle “did not stop at the scene of the collision," and the car was later found at Dennis’ address.

A knowledgeable source told PEOPLE that the Southern Charm alum — who left the show after eight seasons — was involved in the alleged incident, though the South Carolina Highway Patrol did not confirm who was driving the car.
