Katie Holmes is loving the Dawson’s Creek resurgence, but when it comes to keeping up with her cast mates from the iconic teen drama series, she’s a “do not disturb” kind of person. In a new interview, the actress–who famously played Joey Potter in the long-running show–joked that she was out of the loop when she learned that her Dawson’s Creek co-stars had their own group chat on WhatsApp.

"Really?" Holmes quipped when she found out about the text thread during an interview with The Times published Saturday, June 8. However, she quickly reassured the interviewer that she had no hard feelings about not being included, saying the messaging platform was a little overwhelming for her.

"All of us text every now and then, but I wasn’t aware of the WhatsApp," she said. "But you know what? I’m really bad at WhatsApp. I never check it because it’s a little too much."

The Dark Knight actress revealed that while she catches up with Joshua Jackson, James Van Der Beek, and Michelle Williams “every now and then,” life can sometimes get in the way. "Everyone's grown up and is busy, but the bond will forever be there," she said.

Speaking of social media, Holmes previously opened up about how surprised she was that Dawson’s Creek, which ran from 1998 to 2003, recently experienced a resurgence in popularity with younger audiences after it came to streaming platforms.

The actress has previously said that she found it “pretty wild” today’s viewers were connecting to the show so much. During an April 2023 interview on The Jess Cagle Show, she explained, "I mean, I'm kind of amazed that people are connecting to it. Only because the world was, it was right before phones and...before the internet really took off and social media. Life now is so different than the simplicity that was portrayed between this group of friends."
