The American Idol alum showcased her new hairstyle on The Kelly Clarkson Show Monday, where she was seen rocking her new wispy face-framing bangs.

Clarkson, 41, styled her new hairdo with a black off-the-shoulder top and a gold pleated skirt. She topped off the look with a gold choker and a pair of gold hoop earrings.

During Monday's episode, Clarkson was joined by Saturday Night Live alum Leslie Jones, The Vampire Diaries alum Ian Somerhalder and a special education teacher for a duet of Stevie Wonder's "Superstition."

Clarkson’s makeover isn’t the “Stronger” singer’s latest change. She moved from Los Angeles to New York City before her show's fifth season premiere.

“I was very depressed for the last three years — and maybe a little before that, if I'm being honest. I think I really needed the change," Clarkson told PEOPLE last week.

She added how beneficial it has been for her entire family, noting the positive change for her kids, River Rose, 9, and son Remington Alexander, 7.

"I needed it for me and my family as well," she said. "My kids are thriving here. We're just doing so much better, and we needed a fresh start."

Clarkson continued, "I think we get kind of tied up, and you feel like you have to keep going and keep smiling for others.”

The move also came after Clarkson's divorce from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock was finalized in March 2022. They were married for nearly seven years.

"You can only compartmentalize so much, you know? And I'm very good at it, but you can only do that for so long," Clarkson told PEOPLE.

She continued to express her affection for New York City, adding, “It's just been incredible. The energy of it is very me."

One of her favorite things about the city is that she never gets mobbed by a large crowd of fans, the Texas native noted.

"That's what I love about New Yorkers. Everybody's got their own life. They're like, 'Yours is not more important than mine, so have a nice day,'" she said.

"All celebrities should know this. When you live here, people do recognize you, but they just say, 'Oh, hey, what's up?' And then they keep walking. It's incredible," Clarkson joked.

While Clarkson and her kids “genuinely” love New York now, she confessed to USA Today that she had a couple of reservations about the move at first.

"I’ll be real honest: I thought I was making a horrible decision," Clarkson told USA Today in October. "I knew I needed a fresh start and couldn’t be in L.A. I really wanted to be in Montana, but you can’t really do a show from there quite yet. So I was like, ‘The only other option would probably be New York.'"
