Kelly Lin shotgun wedding?
29 Apr – Taiwan-born actress Kelly Lin Hsi Lei revealed on Thursday during a promo event that she is pregnant but denied she was already with child when she married American-born Chinese businessman Chris Young late last month, reported Hong Kong media.
Lin said: "No, I only found out after I got married!"
"We did plan to have children but didn't particularly try for a child. Maybe it is easier to get pregnant when there is no stress."
Lin said her husband was "very happy" and "more emotional than I was" when he heard the news.
The 37-year-old refused to divulge how far along she is in her pregnancy, claiming that it was taboo to reveal that information before the first trimester is over, but said she is due at the end of the year.
Lin said she still does not know her unborn child's gender.
She expressed that she didn't mind whether her baby is a boy or a girl, though her husband "would like to have a loving daughter".
It is further reported that the couple plans to have two children before calling it a day.
Lin said she plans to continue working for the time being in spite of her pregnancy.
"After all, I'll need to make enough money to support the baby!" said the actress with a chuckle.
The pair's wedding was as low-key as they come. Only about 30 guests were invited to the wedding, all flown in from Los Angeles, Taipei, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
There were no groomsmen, with Lin's close friend, Taiwan-born Hong Kong actress Shu Qi the closest thing to a bridesmaid at the wedding.
Kelly Lin's most recent appearances on the big screen was the wuxia movie "Reign Of Assassins" with Michelle Yeoh and the martial arts comedy "Just Call Me Nobody".
