Kerry Washington takes credit for 'Scandal' co-star Tony Goldwyn's glow up

Kerry Washington knows her power.

The "Scandal" star is taking some credit for her co-star Tony Goldwyn's glow-up, joining the #BlackWifeEffect online trend.

In a video posted on Instagram on Tuesday, photos of Goldwyn cycle through to the tune of Tommy Richman's hit single "Million Dollar Baby," from before he starred as President Fitzgerald Grant III opposite Washington's Olivia Pope to after "Olitz" became a thing.

Washington simultaneously tied the video into a call to action for voter registration.

"Tony! I've upgraded your life in so many ways #BlackWifeEffect, and today I'm adding one more," Washington captioned the post. "Go upgrade your voter registration status to REGISTERED 😜. Love you!!!!!!"

"I’d be lost without you kw…🤣 Registering NOW!🙌❤️" Goldwyn wrote under the post Wednesday.

In the #BlackWifeEffect trend, which originated on TikTok, users show how their partners' (often but not always of a different race) lives improved after marrying Black women.

Goldwyn and Washington spent seven seasons as the president of the United States and his crisis manager, respectively, in an intense and rocky on-again-off-again affair. The on-screen couple faced a number of challenges, including power struggles, secrets and political and personal struggles. By the end of the series, the possibility of their rekindling is left open-ended.

Despite how the show ended things, Washington and Goldwyn themselves have kept the hope alive among fans of their on-screen relationship on social media and in frequent reunions.

In March, while discussing his new role on "Law & Order," Goldwyn told Today.com that "If Kerry Washington comes to 'Law & Order,' she will be a villain," to which Washington responded online. "A villain!?!? Me!?!?!" the Emmy winner asked with a crying-laughing emoji.

Late last month, the "Thicker Than Water" author shouted out the "Oppenheimer" star for his 64th birthday.

"The Itz to my #Olitz ❤️ HBD TG! Love you foreva #ScandalFam," Washington wrote on May 20.

"Scandal" fans have expressed curiosity about how Washington and Goldwyn's spouses feel about the ongoing speculation about their relationship.

"Kerry Washington posted this on her official TikTok enuh. Although it had to do with voter registration, THEY'RE STILL NOT BEATING THE ... ALLEGATIONS," one user wrote on X. "Their spouses are God's strongest soldiers fr."

Washington is married to actor and film producer Nnamdi Asomugha, since 2013. Goldwyn is married to production designer Jane Musky, since 1987.
