Kesha flips off crowd after screaming ‘F--- P. Diddy’ during ‘Tik Tok’ performance at WeHo Pride

And the crowd went wild.

Kesha no longer wakes up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy.

At a performance at OUTLOUD Raising Voices for WeHo Pride in West Hollywood on Friday, the “We R Who We R” singer once again altered the opening line of her 2009 hit “Tik Tok” to take aim at the controversial hip-hop mogul. “Wake up in the morning like ‘F--- P. Diddy!’” she sang with both middle fingers extended, prompting cheers from the crowd. The lyric change was even reflected in a massive text visualizer behind the singer and her backup dancers. The performance was part of Kesha’s first solo concert set of 2024.

The singer had previously updated the lyric — which originally said “Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy — in April when she joined Reneé Rapp on stage at Coachella as a surprise guest. She also switched the lyric to “Wake up in the morning feeling just like me” in November.

The original recording of “Tik Tok” actually features Combs saying “Hey, what up, girl?” after Kesha shouts him out.

Shortly after “Tik Tok” was released in 2009, Kesha explained the logic behind the opening line in an interview with Esquire. “One morning I just woke up, and I live in this house with I-don't-even-know-how-many roommates — it's this Laurel Canyon house with seven rooms and roommates fluctuating monthly,” she said. “I woke up one day after we went to a party, and I was surrounded by ten of the most beautiful women you've ever seen. And I was like, I'm like P. Diddy — there's no man like this in the entire world. So that became the first line of the new single, and we just went from there.”

Kesha’s stand against Combs comes in the wake of a turbulent six months for the rapper. Singer Cassie Ventura filed a lawsuit against Combs in November, alleging sexual assault, abuse, and controlling behavior during their tumultuous relationship. The parties settled the lawsuit after one day, but several other accusers sued Combs after Ventura’s case, and federal agents raided Combs’ homes in Los Angeles and Miami in March as part of a sex trafficking investigation. Combs denied all allegations against him.

In May, a video of the rapper beating Ventura in a Los Angeles hotel resurfaced, prompting him to release an apology video, in which he said, “​​I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted.”

Kesha has previously spoken out against sexual abuse in the music industry. In 2014, she filed a lawsuit against her former producer Dr. Luke, a.k.a. Lukasz Gottwald, whom she accused of rape, sexual abuse, physical abuse, and emotional abuse over the course of 10 years. The case was ultimately dismissed in 2016. Gottwald later sued the singer for defamation, and the case was eventually settled out of court.
